Log Spiral Staircases

A log spiral staircase in your log home is a unique touch of class ... if you have the space and desire to include one. A log spiral staircase will require a nine foot square area to sit in, and will require structural support, as the log spiral staircase is quite heavy. We are capable of creating a log spiral starcase that spans only one floor, or rises up to 4 stories in height.

A log spiral staircase basically consists of three essential parts, the log center post, the log treads, and the log handrail.

The center post is cut from a log of extra-large diameter, allowing it to support not only the weight of the people standing on the staircase, but also the weight of the staircase itself.

The treads for your log spiral staircase can be created in a number of different configurations.

• Half-round log treads
• Full-round logs with the tread area carved into the middle
• Flat timber treads

The handrail used on your log spiral staircase are constructed in the same way as the rest of the log handrail that is used in your log home, though the area spanned between posts is considerably less.
