Log Home Design Services:
The log home design people at Kodiak Log Homes create your drawings using a specialized software package called Archicad*. This software enables us to produce traditional plan drawings and elevations, while simultaneously creating a 3-dimensional model of your log home. It is this 3-D model that can be passed on to our art department to be transformed into a virtually photo-realistic rendering of your log home's final appearance. Drawings How we begin a drawing depends on your needs. Some clients already have plans drawn up in DWG file format (AutoCAD**), a sketch, or drawing derived from a home design software package, or simply the idea of what their home will look like set out in their mind. We can begin the design process for your log home from any of these points. Working from a DWG file invloves super-imposing your drawing into our Archicad* work space, and then creating a model to match the specifics shown in the DWG file. Generally there is no need for us to create a set of detailed drawings with this method since the entire goal of this process is to create a virtual model of your log home, unless changes to your original plan are desired. If you wish to have us produce the complete set of plans from your drawing, sketch, or un-drawn vision, we will work with you to turn it into a working design. We will start at the initial consultation phase, then create a preliminary plan that reflects our understanding of your desired home. There are usually a couple of passes through the revision phase, where details are worked out that were not clear at the outset. We will then generate your finished detailed drawings that are necessary to create both the blue-prints and virtual model for your log home. What's included in our drawings package: Preliminary drawings include:
Renderings Once the Archicad* model of your log home is created, our art department begins the task of creating a 3D landscape for it to sit in, adding scenic features such as trees, retaining walls (if required), background imaging and so on. Inside, kitchen cabinets, bathroom features, and some furnishings are added. Then photographic textures are applied to the model to give it a realistic appearance. These textures vary according to each model and by your request. Windows, mirrors and glass objects are altered so that they become reflective, and other surfaces (such as floors) are adjusted according to their nature and degree of reflection. Take a look at the 'Kodiak' pictures, below, for examples of the photo-realistic renderings tha can be produced.
